Welcome!

A Compassionate Approach to Therapy

I am deeply committed to collaborating with you to find out what is keeping you stuck and to discover and build inner resources so that you can begin living a more authentic life. We are all human and experience loss, stress and difficulty. We all have varying degrees of past trauma, whether that be individual or collective trauma.  We all seek a life free from suffering. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, life transitions, and parenting. Learn more about me and my approach below.

Who I Am

I believe that no matter where one is in life, there is hope. Every one of us has strengths that can be uncovered and utilized to create a life of meaning. At the same time, I acknowledge that there are many systemic issues that can make things more or less difficult and I seek to understand the impact those have on each individual. I am social-justice oriented and have chosen to advocate for those who have historically been oppressed and under-privileged. My approach is non-judgmental and compassionate and I meet my clients where they are in the moment.

From a young age, I was aware of the pain and suffering of others and had a deep sense of compassion and justice. With a sense of wanting to help others, I first became involved as a crisis counselor while in college and continued to provide support in that capacity for many years.

Earlier in life, I experienced multiple interpersonal traumas and know the suffering that goes along with that.  Through engagement in my own psychotherapy as well as a spiritual practice rooted in mindfulness, I found my own strength and resilience.  I know how hard it can be to address pain and create new habits and how rich life can be when we are courageous and vulnerable enough to do so.

As a therapist, parent of a young adult,  and community member, I come back time and again to practice awareness and self-compassion in dealing with difficult times, seeking wise counsel whenever appropriate.  Healing happens in safe connection with others and with ourselves.  It's perfectly okay to not be okay and to start where you are.

What I Offer

Forest Trees

My first goal of therapy is for you to feel seen and heard and to build a relationship in which you feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings. I take a very individualized approach to counseling that is relational and client-centered. I utilize techniques that are evidence based including IFS, DBT, ACT, mindfulness and psychoeducation. I draw primarily from attachment and psychodynamic theories. My approach is trauma-informed and strengths-based. I am honored to be a witness to the joys and sorrows of my clients and to provide a therapeutic space in which healing and growth can happen.
